Visit to Tatton Park

On Tuesday, a day after one of the most rainy days in history, Year 3 went to Tatton Park to do some activities related to The Tudor Times. Mrs Bell awoke at 5 to find the day was going to bring sunshine! She was really happy and had some more sleep before getting to school for 7.30am. Hurriedly, she photocopied some worksheets for the buses, in case children got bored.

Most children had brought little activities or magazines to read on the bus. We left at 8.50 and arrived in good time. There were 2 of four activities to fit in before lunch. Each group did4 altogether. Every one of them was fun and educational with children working hard to learn. They used their listening and 'doing' skills. All the teachers and helpers were impressed with behaviour and the good questions and answers they heard. The activities included: Weapons, Wattle and Daub , Spinning, Deer Walk, Pot Pourri, Corn Dollies, Sweet making.

At lunch time there was a whole year group picnic with hens joining us, looking for scraps of food. We managed a good play before getting down to the second set of workshops. The day finished with an excellent falconry display. Eight children got to call a hawk over for food.

The journey back seemed long; adults appeared to be more tired than the children!

I loved going to Tatton Park. I didn't like putting my hands in cow poo.
My favourite part was the harks.

I'm glad the weather stayed sunny for your all. Connor told me about some of the things you did at Tatton Park - it sounded great! Remember to say a big "thank-you" to Mrs Bell and all your other teachers and helpers for organising such a lovely trip! Mrs Wood. Parent Governor.

I enjoyed going to Tatton Park, it was really fun. I liked it when the hawks flew over our heads, but I did duck down. Thank You Mrs Bell for letting us go to Tatton Park, I really enjoyed it.

Mrs Bell
It looked like you had a fantastic time at Tatton park so many people from your class have sent comments about how much they liked it there. My friend Nathan has been telling me about the activities you were doing. He said he especially enjoyed the hawks at the end.
